ISI Training Course Descriptions

ALL COURSES ARE A FULL (1) DAY IN DURATION
8 AM TO 5 PM RAIN OR SHINE

HANDGUNS AND SELF DEFENSE

Self Defense I

This course is intended for individuals with little or no speed shooting experience. You will be taught the fundamentals of defensive shooting in a condensed and easily assimilated manner.

Some of the topics covered are:

  • Gun Safety
  • Choice of Equipment
  • Fundamentals of Marksmanship
  • Ammunition Selection
  • Mental Conditioning
  • Tactical Exercises
  • Legal Lecture

150 rounds of ammunition minimum required.

Self Defense II

This is an intermediate course for those who have completed Self Defense I or have a reasonable degree of proficiency. In Self-Defense II Drawing from the holster is required and more advanced shooting exercises are employed. Very good course for law enforcement officers and citizens.

Topics covered include:

  • Moving Target
  • Prone and Kneeling
  • Barricade
  • Speed and Re-loading (semi-auto and revolver)
  • Detailed Analysis of Speed Shooting Skills
  • Mental Conditioning
  • Tactical Excercises

200 rounds of ammunition minimum required.

Self Defense III

This is for the advanced shooter who is ready to test his skills in a variety of unique challenges.  It is designed to further refine the student's proficiency and to expand his skills.

Some topics covered are:

  • Advanced Moving Targets
  • Instinct Shooting
  • Advanced Tactical Excercises
  • Advanced Trigger Control Techniques

300 rounds of ammunition minimum required.

Shotgun

This is intended for students with little or no shotgun speed shooting experience.

Topics covered include:

  • Fundamentals of Shotgun Shooting
  • Nomenclature
  • Shotgun Mechanics (auto and pump)
  • Shotgun Patterns
  • Shot Load and Gauge Selection
  • Tactical Positions

Ammunition required: 75 rounds "trap loads", 25 buckshot #4 or larger, 10 slugs.

Private Training

Often a person may be in the greater Los Angeles area for business for a few days and would like to take advantage of some training.  Many times this "business trip" doesn't coincide with the ISI course the individual wishes to attend.  In order to provide our service to as many as possible, private shooting instruction is available.  Each private lesson is 4 hours and is tailored to the individual needs at the student's skill level.  Interested individuals can contacts by phone for scheduling.
