ISI Training Philosophy

Organized and taught by Police Officer and International Shooting Champion, MIKE DALTON, and his staff of specialized instructors who have trained Secret Service, L.A. Police Dept., L.A. Sheriff's Dept., Ventura County Sheriff's Dept., San Fernando Police Dept., U.S. Dept. Of Energy Personnel and thousands of law abiding citizens.

Purpose of International Shootist Institute

International Shootists is dedicated to teaching the art of modern pistolcraft to qualified individuals for defensive purposes as well as the use of the handgun as a satisfying recreational activity. You will receive personal instruction from MIKE DALTON. Mike is a COMBAT PISTOL MASTER nationally and internationally known competitor and instructor with years of winning and teaching experience.

The beginning shooter will be advised as to proper equipment selection (revolver or auto) depending on the goal you wish to achieve. At International Shootists you will become a well-rounded, all-around shooter. Some of the points covered in International Shootists training courses are:

Basic Marksmanship- sight picture and trigger control, proper stance and grip, shooting moving targets, strong and weak-hand shooting, speed reloading the auto and revolver, loads for defense, proper equipment maintenance, modifications to pistols for defense, instinct shooting, tactics, position shooting (barricade, prone, sitting, kneeling, offhand).

Opportunity

You will learn proven techniques during your training at International Shootists that are not available anywhere else. Many of these methods have won international recognition as being extremely effective and have proven to be superior in open competition. At International Shootists every detail will be covered as well as personal attention to any special problems that we can effectively solve. You will learn how to deliver accurate, controlled, rapid shots from powerful sidearm.

Art of Pistocraft

Pistolcraft, like other "martial arts," is a form of art and must be understood in that fashion. The smooth flow of movement with absolute confidence is what International Shootists is dedicated to passing on to its students. Watching a master firing a shooting problem, one can easily see the "art of pistolcraft" in action. The International Shootists student will be given the instruction necessary to build the foundation on which he can refine the use of his pistol and equipment.

Handguns and Self-Defense

These courses are based on the book "Life Without Fear" co-authored by Mike Dalton. They are designed to teach the student the skills required to survive a lethal confrontation. Because of our growing rate of violent crime, any of these courses are a very necessary asset to citizens desiring the ability to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Safety

When handling any machine capable of causing fatal injury, proper safety measures must be adhered to without fail. The standards of safety at International Shootists are very stringent and each student will learn to handle firearms properly. In the handling of firearms, there is no such thing as an accidental discharge; there are only negligent ones. It will be each student's responsibility to adopt these safety standards and maintain them throughout their stay at International Shootists.

Liability Agreement

Firearms must be handled with complete safety in order to assure their efficient and effective use. Therefore, safety is necessarily of primary concern. The only effective way of policing safe gun handling by students is to establish strict rules and enforce them by expulsion from the program for non-compliance.

Prior to instruction, each student will be required to separately sign a liability agreement, which sets forth and explains each rule and provides for Release of Liability and Forfeiture of Tuition on for failure to comply. Read it carefully before signing, as you are expected to understand the full meaning. We are sure you will feel more comfortable on the range knowing this agreement is in effect for everyone.
